A few years ago I played some guitar on a track for Michael Aranda's vlog soundtrack. I love the original, but I've always thought a bluesy acoustic version would be fun to do, so that's what I've done!
I went to see Yvette Young live last month, and picked up a tab book to learn a few songs from her Acoustics EP. Here's my instrumental version of Mermaid.
Here's a new collaboration video with my sister Steph, featuring our cover of Nightbird by Eva Cassidy.
Having recently started watching Marvel's Daredevil series, I decided to have a go at arranging John Paesano's brilliant title theme music.
For anyone interested in learning music of mine, I have now made sheet music available for purchase in my store.
These come in PDF and GuitarPro format, and in standard and TAB notation, and contain all guitar and bass parts for each song.
I'm back in the video game music world for this week's video, with a song from The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt. I've played a lot of this game and loved the whole soundtrack, but this piece always stood out for me, so I decided to have a go at it myself.
Here’s a new cover of Ancient Waterfalls, a song by Michael Aranda from the soundtrack to his WhatImDoingRightNow daily vlog.
To round out the Civil Wars song covers, here's my version of The Violet Hour, a track from their first album Barton Hollow.
Here's the final video cover I'm doing of songs from the Civil Wars' soundtrack to the A Place At The Table documentary, and it's my favourite one, Focus (Rosie's Theme).
The second of my covers of the Civil Wars instrumental tracks is Barbie At The Bodega, again from the soundtrack to A Place At The Table.
Though they're primarily known for their incredible voices, The Civil Wars also wrote some great instrumental songs, most notably on their soundtrack to the documentary film A Place At The Table. I'm going to be covering a selection of them in the following weeks, the first of which is The Need.
Here's my latest video; a version of Ouray by Andy McKee.
Last month, I travelled to India to visit some friends, go to a wedding, and play some music. It was the first opportunity I've had to play live as part of Break-Even Point, and it was great! It was a Sofar Sounds Bangalore show taking place in a big martial arts studio, and we played some songs from Wildflowers alongside two new originals. Here are a few photos from the show:
We also couldn't miss the opportunity to record some videos, the first of which is out already to watch below, and is one of our newest songs, Restless Mind. There'll be a few more to follow over the next month, so keep a look out for those!
I have a new seasonally themed cover of White Woods by Karlijn Langendijk, from the album Christmas Without Words.
Here's my latest video; a cover of Persephone, the opening track to Opeth's new album Sorceress.
Here's my new cover video of Floating On Feathers by Merel Van Hoek.
I am pleased to announce that my band Break-Even Point is releasing it's first album! It's called Wildflowers, and is currently available for pre-order on Bandcamp, with the full release happening this Friday.
It's classical guitar duets month on my YouTube Channel, and who better to accompany me than me?! This week I'm (we're) playing my old favourite, Claudia's Theme, from the soundtrack to the Clint Eastwood film Unforgiven.
Hey folks, I've just released a new YouTube video! It's an instrumental cover of one of my favourite songs, Who Watches The Watchmen by The Prize Fighter Inferno. It was a fun one to make; I always enjoy taking a song with lots of different parts and arranging it for guitars and other assorted acoustic instruments. Check it out below, I do hope you enjoy it!
Another Joe Robinson cover, anyone?
